I sent this series out to all our TPRS group, and one teacher wrote back that Laurie has, in these posts, summarized everything that is important in the social-emotional learning task studies. (That’s a big buzzword in our district.)
How wonderful that – thanks to Robert almost a year ago – we have been discussing the social/emotional piece for so long, and we have a plan in place (the metacognition piece for 2012) and we are now attacking this piece in our classrooms instead of just talking about it, unlike what ACTFL is doing these days (just talking) about CI and the 90% use statement instead of making it real, making it alive. We may as well punt on Krashen if we can’t make Vygotsky’s vision come alive – this method requires it.
